The AMIR Fund for Education, Science and Technology held its second annual Prize Giving Day at African Church Grammar School, Ita-Iyalode, Abeokuta, on Wednesday, 30 September 2026. The event recognised students who achieved outstanding academic results during the year.

The programme opened with a mentorship session led by invited teacher mentors. They urged students to build strong academic records, to stay focused, and to reject the pressure of quick money. They encouraged students to see their education as an investment in their future and to pursue success through disciplined and legitimate means.

Students who led in their subjects in SS1 and SS2 then received prizes and certificates. Special recognition went to the student with the highest JAMB score and to the Overall Best Students in SS1 and SS2. Members of the school management, including the Principal, Vice Principal, Heads of Department and the Supervisor, presented the awards.

Parents thanked the school and the Fund for celebrating their children's achievements. Speaking for the parents, the father of an award recipient gave the vote of thanks and prayed for the organisers, the school management and all who support the students.

The Prize Giving Day returned to the school in September 2025, when the AMIR Fund signed a Memorandum of Understanding with African Church Grammar School to revive a tradition that had lapsed. Both of the Fund's founders are alumni of the school. The prizes are funded by the AMIR FEST endowment and are designed to continue every year.

“I sat in these classrooms. A prize at the right moment tells a young person that their hard work has been seen,” said Ridwan Sorunke, Founder and Trustee of the AMIR Fund. “We want every student here to know that excellence is noticed and rewarded.”
